Hello Billings Community!
Announcing big changes to our annual fundraising event. As you probably know, for many years – and like many schools – we’ve hosted an annual auction where we have raised critical funds for our operations and financial aid. Auctions are a lot of fun, but often -- by their very nature – they do not feel inclusive to everyone. Many families just don’t see an auction as an event meant for them.
We are addressing that by creating an event that engages ALL of our Billings families!
In recognition of the apparent divides we see all around us, we want to highlight the deep connections we feel in our Billings community – one which is dedicated to inspiring students to become
global citizens inspired to promote a socially just, sustainable world
(from the Billings vision statement)
We are planning an event at which we will celebrate our remarkable school AND that EVERY Billings family feels truly welcome to attend.
So, on April 29, 2017, let’s celebrate Billing’s 20th birthday at our reimagined CommUNITY Celebration.
You’ve got questions? I’ve got answers. What will change? What will be the same?
There will be no silent or live auction.
We will have a very meaningful, entertaining program that truly celebrates the amazing middle school we all love.
There will still be a fun cocktail hour, but with more time to socialize.
There will still be a Wine Grab.
When we sell things, they’ll be focused more on experiences (like parties, dinners and special events) and less on stuff.
There will likely still be a raffle.
We will still “auction” cocktails for tables.
We will still have a Dessert Dash.
There WILL be a fundraising appeal (“Raise the Paddle”) to enable Billings to continue to offer Financial Aid (this year to 30% of our families). Our Raise the Paddle is the vitally important fundraising element of our event, and our primary manner of meeting our financial goals.
